System requirements
Telvi runs on standard Windows machines. Telvi Server is light; the playout machines do the heavy lifting, especially at 4K. Use this page to size your installation, or book a demo and we'll size it with you.
What runs where
A Telvi installation has a few parts. One Telvi installation runs one TV channel. In a small setup all parts can share one PC; larger setups spread them over several machines that share the same Telvi Drive.
| Component | What it does | Runs on |
|---|---|---|
| Telvi Server | Web interface: media library, formats, playlists, users, settings and the Cue Clock. | Management PC |
| Telvi Player | Plays the playlist full screen and outputs it through the graphics card. | A playout PC per Player (up to four per installation) |
| Telvi Importer | Brings new media into the Telvi Drive and adds it to the library. | Management PC or an ingest PC |
| Telvi Drive | Shared folder with media, formats, playlists, scripts, logs and configuration. | Local disk or NAS |
| Video switcher optional | Lets Telvi switch the transmission to a backup Player when a Player fails. Blackmagic ATEM, vMix, Kramer, Extron, or any switcher that accepts TCP or HTTP commands. | Your existing switcher |
| Telvi SilDe optional | Watches what actually goes out for black, silence, freeze or a lost signal. | A monitoring PC with a capture input |
| Browser | Opens Telvi Server. Nothing to install per workstation. | Any PC on the network (current Edge, Chrome or Firefox) |
Minimum specifications per role
These are minimums for smooth operation. For Telvi One, Server and Player may run on the same PC: use the playout specifications for that machine.

The Telvi Drive
Everything Telvi works with lives in one shared folder: the Telvi Drive. Server, Players and Importer all read from and write to it, so it needs to be fast and always reachable.
Where to put it
For a single machine: a fast local NVMe drive. For several machines: a NAS or a shared drive on the wired network.
Every Telvi Server, Player and Importer machine needs read and write access to it.
How much space
Broadcast masters are large, high-bitrate files. Plan for tens of gigabytes per hour of HD material, more for 4K, and keep plenty of headroom for new media.
Formats, playlists and configuration are small in comparison.
Network and ports
Use a wired network between all Telvi machines and the Telvi Drive: gigabit for HD, 10 GbE when several 4K Players read from the same storage. Telvi Server connects out to the Players, Importer and SilDe on these default ports:
| Port (TCP) | Used for | Open on |
|---|---|---|
7269 | Telvi Server web interface | Management PC, reachable from your team's browsers |
7301 | Link between Telvi Server and Telvi Player | Each playout PC |
7302 | Link between Telvi Server and Telvi Importer | The ingest machine |
7303 | Link between Telvi Server and Telvi SilDe | The monitoring machine |
443 outbound | Licence validation and updates (HTTPS) | All Telvi machines |
Playout doesn't depend on the internet connection. If the licence server can't be reached for a long time, only configuration changes are paused until the check succeeds again.
Software on the machines
Windows
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, on every Telvi machine. Keep graphics drivers up to date on playout PCs.
Microsoft Edge WebView2
Telvi Player uses the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime to show websites on air. It comes with Windows 11 and is a free download for Windows 10.
Scripts
Scripts are Windows batch files (.cmd) and run on the playout machine when an item starts or ends.
If the Telvi Drive is on a network share, scripts run from C:\ instead of the script folder, so use full paths.
Browser for Telvi Server
Any current version of Edge, Chrome or Firefox on your network. The interface is available in English and Dutch.
Media and codec considerations
Recommended masters
MXF files with DNxHR / DNxHD or ProRes video and PCM audio at 48 kHz play reliably and are easy to decode frame by frame.
CPU before GPU
DNxHR and ProRes decoding is CPU-bound, so CPU cores matter more than the graphics card for the video itself. The GPU mainly drives the website layer and the display output.
